Clean Beauty in Brooklyn, NYC.
Ky and I had an amazing trip this summer to NYC visiting our New York Clean Beauty Artists and teaching a summer makeup class at the Beautycounter store in Soho.
We stayed in Brooklyn and decided to scope out all the clean beauty that Brooklyn has to offer. If you are visiting Brooklyn and you are a clean beauty enthusiast, then this is your guide.

Nails

pH 7 Natural Nails & Sugaring-
The best way to describe pH7 is slow beauty meets clean nail spa. Don’t let the word “slow” scare you away — not a detail will be missed when you experience pH7. Realize though, pH7 pays attention to detail and wants you to enjoy your nail experience as self-care. If you are looking for your mani/pedi experience to be fast and furious then take your self-care elsewhere. The spa is water-less, I mean they have water, but they use it in sanitary ways. For example, I got a mani/pedi and they didn’t soak my entire foot in water — water is used as needed. The pedicurist was so detailed and they even massage your shoulders when the color is drying. That was probably my favorite part.
I also love that I could actually get color on my nails. I always ask for “no polish” mani/pedi’s at my local spots, but I had so many colors to choose from at pH7 and they even do cute/modern nail art. Ky was able to get a non-toxic gel manicure which she was super excited about (pictured above). She said it lasted on her vacation to Miami after our visit to Brooklyn.
Ky and I had such a fabulous experience at Brooklyn’s most popular non-toxic nail spa pH7 and we highly recommend and will return.
Skin
Treatment by Lanshin-
"Treatment by Lanshin is a holistic healing studio dedicated to transforming skin health in Brooklyn, NY.
They use the Nature-based principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to heal the skin and restore the body to its natural radiance and vitality."
I had the pleasure of taking Lanshin’s Gua Sha (pronounced Gua like the beginning of the fruit guava and Sa). It was one of the best beauty classes that I’ve ever taken and I highly recommend traveling to Brooklyn to take her class or registering when she comes back to DC at the Take Care Shop.
If you are visiting Brooklyn or if you live there or NYC and can plan in advance, then you should definitely book a treatment at Lanshin’s studio. You truly won’t be able to find her services all in one place at any other spot in the country. I actually got an appointment and was going to treat myself for my 38th b-day, but I had to cancel because we couldn’t squeeze everything in on one day. I was so bummed, but I’m telling you so that you can go!

Makeup
After the cutest lunch spot our Brooklyn Clean Beauty Artists picked called Jolie Cantina - NYC’s first French/Mexican Bistro. I have to mention the lunch spot (not because it was organic or natural or whatever) it was just sooooo cute and delicious and if you are visiting Brooklyn you should GO!
Anyway, after lunch we walked over to Brooklyn’s clean beauty shop — SHEN.
SHEN is small, but it’s packed with really great clean beauty lines that I have only seen online. It was so nice to be able to touch these sought after lines in person. We got our hands on GOOP skincare by Juice Beauty, Alpyn Beauty — a clean skincare line based out of Jackson Hole WY, January Labs, C & THE MOON body scrub made by Malibu actress and birth doula Carson Meyer , The Organic Skin Co. beauty line, Luna Bronze Tanning Moisturizer, and Lilah B makeup. These are all clean beauty brands that I have been wanting to try, but haven’t found them in any stores. I love that SHEN thinks out of the beauty box with brands.
Super excited about Goop products housed at SHEN because they are hard to touch and feel on the east coast especially in DC.

Another perk of visiting SHEN is their adaptogen, probiotic, collagen, and CBD infused drink fridge. If you know me, I love a good bevvy so this was the perfect way to shop!
Apothecary/Mom & POP
The above list is about all we could fit in for one day with a long lunch and dinner out. On our list for next time are the following apothecaries/skin shoppes and the cutest Mom & Pop Soaperie.
Brooklyn Herborium- Healthy Holistic Skincare and Natural Skincare Treatment Services.
I was really excited about visiting Brooklyn Herborium. They hand make all their skincare and products in small batch and they have incredible skincare services. All their services use their natural products and are holistic. They have two locations and host workshops.
Anima Mundi Apothecary- Flagship store in Brooklyn,
"Owner Adriana Ayales is herbalist, medicine maker, educator and founder of Anima Mundi. She is originally from Costa Rica and started Anima Mundi several years ago in Brooklyn as a means to bridging ancient remedies to the modern world."
Anima Mundi offers health and beauty products for inner and outer healing and hands-on events.
Soap Cherie- "Soap Cherie is a female founded, all natural bath & body brand from Brooklyn, New York.
Their ingredients are inspired by nature and are consciously chosen for their therapeutic benefits & properties for your skin to indulge in."
They have the sweetest french bakery inspired store-front. We stayed right near the store in the heart of Williamsburg and they offer soap making classes.
