Holistic and Organic Facials in DC (Garden Spa)
Garden Spa is home of the Skincando Organic Facial and located in NW DC near the Omni Shoreham hotel.
The green beauty skincare line, Skincando was the birth of green beauty products in DC. I remember driving to the apothecary in Kensignton, MD (probably 10 years ago) because I saw the Skincando Combat Balm in a magazine and I just had to get my hands on it. You have to get your hands on it too (literally) especially for those of you who suffer with dry skin and hands! Oh and side note- the baby balm is so good for those dry skin babies!
Fast forward 10 years and the Skincando Combat Balm is placed in larger retailers such as Follain and has a cult following. But, that’s not all… Skincando has birthed a luxury sister line that has received a very warm welcome into the DC green beauty family!
Sara Damelio, started her career as a holistic esthetician and continues to serve her clients out of the, Garden Spa that she’s created in the heart of NW DC. Sara treats her clients with the Skincado facial using her full line, Lux Tempus and some extras like a pumpkin enzyme peel — which my skin loves.
The Skincando facial is robust, effective, and designed to meet your skin’s needs in every skin season.
When Sara treats my skin she likes to work on deep hydration. She starts my facial with a hydrating cleanse using her CBD cleansing oil (dead) and after deep exfoliation treatments using Pearl Mud and her custom pumpkin enzyme peel, I already feel 10 years younger. Sara then has me relax and soak in the Wild Honey mask and finishes the facial with a light moisturizing layer of Liquid Silver (my personal favorite product) and spot treats my dry areas and lips with her Miracle Cream. FYI Sara has not done extractions on me, but I know if you need them, she will do them.
Sara is always helping me tweak my skincare routine based on what my skin is up to. For example, I mentioned to her that after my oil cleanses I was having some congestion on my skin. Sara recommended to follow up with her Aloe Foam Cleanser. I don’t usually cleanse with foaming cleansers because I am so dry, but she was right. The cleanser was just what my skin needed and I follow up with it after my oil cleanses or use it alone and my skin has been completely clear.
I can’t leave you hanging on my favorite product from the line. I know, it’s so hard to pick a favorite, but the Liquid Silver is the very best SPF moisturizer that I have ever used. I even used this product to break my mom free from her daily Oil of Olay Cream with SPF. Liquid Silver- breaking mom’s away from Olay since 2019.
In all seriousness, this SPF serum and lightweight moisturizer is a dream come true for me. It’s the first cream with SPF that hasn’t made me break out into little clogged up red bumps. You apply it first, so it goes under a thicker cream like the Miracle Cream or heavier moisturizer that you already have. The ingredients provide natural protection against the sun, so I think that’s why I’ve never once broken out from it.
Liquid Silver is priced at $70 for 2 ounces and worth every penny!
